Dodgers vs Giants
The Los Angeles Dodgers dominated the San Francisco Giants in an 8-3 victory, lead by Teoscar Hernández and Mookie Betts’ offensive prowess.
James Paxton debuted for the Dodgers, pitching five scoreless innings and striking out five batters. Nevertheless, he faced difficulties in controlling his pitches, walking five batters and allowing four hits while dealing with traffic on the bases all evening.
Hernández hit four home runs in his past four games and also recorded two doubles in the initial five games of the homestand. On Monday, he smacked a three-run homer into the left field pavilion on the second pitch thrown by submariner Taylor Rogers.
Hernández has collected nine RBIs over his past four games with his recent home run. This followed Max Muncy’s two-run homer in the eighth inning, which helped the Dodgers secure a comeback victory after trailing 4-0.
James Paxton, with a 1-0 record, pitched five scoreless innings during his first appearance for the Dodgers, who have emerged victorious in four of their past five games.
Michael Conforto of San Francisco hit a solo home run down the right-field line in the sixth inning. Keaton Winn (0-1) gave up three runs and recorded six strikeouts in five innings.
Freeman, who ranked second in the majors last season with 211 hits, achieved his third multi-hit game in his last five appearances. He contributed two RBIs through a base hit in the third inning and a double in the seventh.
The initial four hitters in the Dodgers’ lineup, including Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Freeman, and Will Smith, were responsible for eight out of the nine hits and five RBIs. Smith scored two runs by hitting a sacrifice fly in the third inning and a single in the seventh.
The Dodgers missed 14 of Winn’s 89 pitches, the highest number of swings and misses a pitcher has generated against their strong lineup this season. Winn’s splitter was especially effective, leading to four of his strikeouts, with one being an inside corner pitch that struck out Freeman.
Teoscar Hernández displayed his power in the sixth inning by hitting a massive home run to left field. This was his fourth homer of the season, a three-run shot that traveled 431 feet and extended the Dodgers’ lead to 6-1.
In the seventh inning, the Dodgers had a successful stretch when Betts and Freeman hit doubles, pushing the score to 7-2. Following this, Smith singled, enabling Freeman to cross the plate.
