Tennessee death row inmate spared execution after medics fail to find vein for lethal injection — gets one-year reprieve
An attorney for Carruthers, sentenced to death in 1996 for murder, said medics struggled for more than an hour trying to find a vein, leaving her client "wincing and groaning" inside the death chamber.
