The two-day midterm political convention in Dallas this week is Republicans’ last, best chance to put on a show and appeal to donors and corporations ahead of a November election that’s increasingly favoring Democrats. President Trump floated the idea of the convention a year ago as a way to rally voters and ensure Republican control of Congress.
